The school aims at identifying the disability as early as possible. We focus on all round development of intellectually disabled to build their self confidence, self reliability and self sufficiency. We endeavor to make all our students to become independent and productive members of the society.
We adopt new educational techniques and novel teaching strategies based on Modern Psychological Principles. Individualized Educational Program (Curriculum) is developed for each child. The program includes Life Oriented Education. The hidden talent of the child is brought out to excel in his/her education. Periodical evaluation is done in order to assess and achieve the curriculum developed for the prescribed period. This helps to bring out the full potential of the child. Special therapies like Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Yoga Therapy, Brain Gym, Thirukkural Exercise, Sports & Games and Group Activities are part of the curriculum. The school provides appropriate training which assist to correct behavior in children suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) & Autism. Our main focus is to increase memory – visual and auditory, Improve attention, discrimination, basic communication, eye-hand coordination, academic, problem solving, decision making, perceiving, responding & social skills.
Our school starts at 9.30 a.m in the morning with the prayer followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu and Brain Gym every day.
Specific programs are organized on weekly days to bring out the talents of our children.
Classes begin at 10.15 a.m. with Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each child. The class gets over at 2.30 p.m. followed by extra curricular activities like Arts and Crafts, Singing, Dancing, Drawing, Colouring, Painting and Group Activities. The extra curricular activities are structured according to the individual ability of the child. Evening assembly begins at 3.15 p.m. with Prayer and Thirukkural therapy in which two students are selected from each class and appreciated for their performances; it is followed by National Anthem.
Everyday evening Thirukkural therapy is given for 20 minutes. In this therapy, the students perform various physical exercises by reciting Thirukkural which contributes to the speech & language improvement, learning through comparison, imitation and memory development of the child.
Occupational therapy promotes health by enabling people to perform meaningful and purposeful occupations. These include (but are not limited to) work, leisure, self care, domestic and community activities. Occupational Therapist works systematically through a sequence of actions known as the occupational therapy process. The stages in the process are:
Our occupational therapists focus to maximize the functions in the areas like sensory issues, hand function, cognitive skills, ADL skills and vocational skills of children with special needs. At present the Department is looked after by two Occupational Therapists.
Remedial Education is conducted after the school hours to assist the slow learners and children with Learning Disabilities: Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia. Speech and cognitive therapy forms important aspects in Remedial Education. This Remedial Education is advantageous to the children between 21/2 to 18 years. This supportive education is very beneficial for children studying in main stream schools.
Every day morning, children spend 20 minutes in Brain Gym activities. It includes more than 30 different types of physical exercises. This contributes to the speech development, pronunciation clarity, and development in the areas of Reading, Writing, Calculation, Time and Money concept. Due to this activity, the students get rid of laziness and they actively involve in the daily activities.
We celebrate Independence Day, Teacher’s Day, Children’s Day, Republic Day and Annual Sports Day in a very grand manner. The cultural events performed by our children are valued by all kind hearted souls.
The complete triumph of evolutionary process is the design of human beings. The problems encountered by us are many. Mental sub normality is one among the greatest challenge faced by us. Two percentage of the entire world population are with Mental Sub Normality. The associated conditions are Autism, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Disabilities etc.
The main objective of our magazine is to help the parents of children with special needs, professionals and teachers to understand the dynamics of the problem and help the children with Mental sub normality, Autism, ADHD, ADD, Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disability (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Sensory Processing Disorders and Central Auditory Processing Disorders), slow learners and other Educational & Behavioral Disorders.
We inform the public about the various techniques and strategies involved in Behavioral Modification, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Cognitive & Communication Therapy, Remedial Education and Clinical Teaching. We try to make them understand about the various ways, the special children can derive benefit from such therapies. We emphatically insist the public to provide equal opportunities to differently abled people. We also aim to bring the scientific truths of Psychology, Education, Special Education, Various Therapies, Medicine and Vocational Education to the Parents of special children and Professionals working in the field of rehabilitation.

Maruti seva organizes weekly and monthly workshops & seminars to create awareness among the Parents, Educators and Professionals in Rehabilitation, about the various issues faced by the children with special needs. Through our programs we try to equip them with essential skills and information to handle the children with Mental Retardation, Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder ( Add), Attention Defecit Hyperactive Disorder( Adhd), Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, Learning Disability( Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Sensory Processing Disorder, Central Auditory Processing Disorder ), and Slow Learners. We also conduct various out reach programmes in schools and colleges about Learning Disability, Remedial Education and Clinical Teaching. Calendar year Training Programmes are designed to provide practical knowledge and refreshment training to various professionals (Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapist, Psychologists, Special Educators, studying and working in rehabilitation sectors. The school is headed by Dr. S. Ramalingam Ph.D., who is specialized in the field of Education, Special Education, Psychology and Remedial Therapy. A multi displinary Team comprising of speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapists, Psychiatrist, Neurologists, Experts in the field of Special Education, Psychologists, and Parents are part of our school team which in turn contributes to the development of our school.
